Currently I have been on TikTok and been seeing several videos promoting what they call the “anti-clean” girl movement. The whole movement is about rejecting the pressure to conform to a specific beauty standard, so it challenges the idea that everyone needs to look put-together and effortless with minimal makeup, dewy skin, and neat appearances, as portrayed in the “clean girl” trend. It also highlights how unrealistic and unattainable the “clean girl” trend is since it often can lead many girls feeling insecure since it is a concept that is very hard to achieve.
It is always important that no matter what trend or aesthetic you are trying to achieve, it should be something that you absolutely feel is *YOU* and not something that you’re doing because your friends or people on the internet is doing it.
In case you are feeling this way, maybe it is good time to start unfollowing or taking a small break from social media. Often times we try to mimic what’s trendy, and although that’s totally cool, it is important to know your self-worth and embrace your individuality. Remember to also focus on self-care and not just the aesthetic, most times these types of trends might include dietary changes such as drinking more and eating less which is obviously not something that fits into everyone’s regime.
Remember to take care of yourself mentally and take care of that beautiful body that you only have one of in this life <3.
